The board meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Younglove.  Supervisors Groy and Wagner were present along with 8 residents. 

Motion to adopt agenda as written by Supervisor Wagner and seconded by Supervisor Groy.  Motion carried. 

Minutes of the 4/16/24 meeting were read.  Motion to accept the minutes as read by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Treasurer’s report given.  Motion to accept report by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Recycling/garbage report showed 15.38 tons of garbage and 4.82 tons of recyclables for the month of April. 

Report on building permits and fire signs showed 6 building permits and 2 fire signs.

50x153 pole building on Oak Leaf along with a fire sign; 40x40 detached garage on Town Corner Lake along with a fire sign; 16x16 addition on Hadalak; 38x32 addition on Greenstone; 20x36 addition to detached garage on Smith; 30x40 detached garage on Smeester School; and a razing permit on Wildtree. 

Variance on Crowe Road was discussed.  Even though the mobile has been completely remodeled inside and they are willing to do work to the outside of the home, the mobile is 40 years old and our cutoff is 15 years old.  The board does not want to give a variance on a mobile that old. 

2024 Road Maintenance Contracts with Scott Construction were approved on a motion by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried.  They include chip seal on Trout Haven east in the amount of $22,350 and Trout Haven west in the amount of $22,350; chip seal on Sand Road in the amount of $24,000; chip seal on an additional .4 mile of Marek in the amount of $14,800; wedging on Jossart west end for $24,000; Jossart east end to Roush east in the amount of $24,000 and east end for $4,300; 72 cracks filled with mastic on Tower Line at the cost of $18,000 for a total of $153,800.

Sandbox at the ball field was requested.  The board has no problem with that as long as it is located in a safe spot. 

Temporary Class B License for the Chamber of Commerce for May 18th.  Motion to approve by Supervisor Wagner and seconded by Supervisor Groy.  Motion carried.

Bob Graf presented on a Possible Income Stream for the town.  At this time the town board does not want to compete with private firewood sellers and so does not feel that they can provide space for this endeavor. 

Moe’s Kitchen requested a donation.  Since we have not budgeted for this and we have used our donation dollars, we will not donate at this time but will keep info for possible future. 

Discussion of ongoing road improvement projects shows that the crew has been hauling gravel, is currently crack sealing, did some patching on Smeester School Road and ordered a water pump for the grader as it broke down. 

Correspondence was the contract for Astrea; Yeager Oil sent a letter with prices on their fuel asking if possible to do business with the town; an email regarding pier repairs that were completed; recycling grant in the amount of $2465.99 was awarded; personal property aid in the amount of $716.86 will be coming in May; and school levy tax credit of $60,402.20 will be coming in May. 

Public comments:  Ken Hanson questioned whether the board thought about deeding the Beecher Lake Park to the Lake District and Dan Sipple asked what would be the liability and/or if insurance would be needed.  Next month the president of the Lake District will be presenting at the meeting. 

Motion to approve payment of bills in the amount of $22,457.82 by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Next meeting will be June 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
