The Board Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and it was noted that all board members were present along with 10 residents. Chairman Younglove made a motion to adopt the agenda as written seconded by Supervisor Groy. Motion carried.
The clerk read the minutes of the August 2024 meeting. Supervisor Groy made a motion that the minutes be accepted as given. Supervisor Wagner seconded the motion and the motion carried.
The treasurer’s report was given. Supervisor Groy made a motion to accept the report as given. Supervisor Wagner seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Recycling/garbage report stated that there were 16.87 tons of garbage and 5.16 tons of recyclables for the month of August.
Report on building permits and fire signs showed that 3 building permits and 1 fire sign were issued in August. Crowe Road for a 20x24 outbuilding and fire sign; Ring Lane for a 40x50 outbuilding and Wildtree for a 16x32 outbuilding.
Beecher Lake dam valves were discussed. Chairman Younglove and Gary Gehling met with the engineer for the dam valves and were told that the valves should last past our lifetime and only needed minor maintenance once a year, that being opened and water flushed through them. Motion by Chairman Younglove and seconded by Supervisor Groy to take over the dam valves from the Beecher Lake District. Motion carried.
Tax Collection Agreement came in from the County Treasurer. The cost went up for the first time in 15 years from .85 per parcel to 1.20 per parcel and administrative fee from $250 to $500. The county has the option for residents to pay online which we would not have. Motion by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner to accept the collection agreement. Motion carried.
DeShea Morrow, current district attorney, came to discuss her pending run for county judge. She is not running against Judge Morrison but is running to replace Judge Sequin who stepped down. She has practiced in Marinette County for the past 21 years and has been district attorney since 2017.
Discussion of ongoing road projects are that we have some loader issues which are being worked on, French Lane is being turned back into gravel and the crew has been hauling gravel, brushing and grading.
Correspondence is the Marinette County Unit meeting will be in Amberg on 9/19 at 7 p.m. Also received a thank you from Scott Construction.
Public comments are a thank you for grading Krueger Lane and a question as to why the minutes are not in the Peshtigo Times. We no longer have a dedicated newspaper and all minutes are on the website and are posted at the town hall and at Patti’s Platter.
Motion to approve bills in the amount of $26,344.08 by Chairman Younglove and seconded by Supervisor Groy. Motion carried.
Next meeting will be October 8th at 6:00 p.m. Motion to adjourn meeting by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
Note from Chairman Younglove, wheel tax was voted down at the county meeting as was a septic tank charge of $10 per septic.
